Die Einkaufswelle von Epic geht weiter. Wie ich (als Fig Backer) gerade aus einer Info-eMail erfahren durfte, hat sich SnapshotGames entschieden, einen 1-Jahres-Exklusivvertrag mit Epic zu unterzeichnen.

Hier mal der Text der Info als Copy&Paste:

Hi! I’m Julian Gollop, the creative director of Phoenix Point and the CEO of Snapshot Games.

I have some major news to share: we have signed a deal with Epic Games to bring Phoenix Point exclusively to the Epic Games Store for its first year of release on PC and Mac.

This deal is a real game changer for our studio, because, thanks to Epic’s support, it is certain that we will be able to update and expand Phoenix Point for years to come.

We want to share our success with all the backers who have helped us get here, so we have a special benefit to announce: if you backed or pre-ordered Phoenix Point at any time since our crowdfunding campaign until today, you will receive a year of free DLC.

That’s right - every piece of paid DLC we release for Phoenix Point during our first year will be automatically added to your Epic Store account when you redeem your key.

We recognize that some of you may have backed or pre-ordered Phoenix Point with an expectation of the platform you’d be able to play it on, and that this update changes that.

If for any reason you are not happy with this change, we will be happy to offer you a full refund and apologize for any inconvenience caused.

Ich rate mal:

1. Die Meisten, die schon Geld investiert haben, werden wohl dabei bleiben.
2. Epic sollte mehr betonen, dass es Publisher werden möchte, bzw. sich einfach ab sofort als Spieleverlag bezeichnen.

Jop. Zumindest ich würde mich dann nicht mehr dran stoßen.
Das momentan ist einfach nur hässlich. Sich irgendwo reinkaufen, ist einfach scheiße. Legal, keine Frage.... Aber scheiße. Solange sie den Mist weiter treiben, werde ich sie nicht mit dem Hintern angucken.
Alternativ sollen sie Spiele gleich von Anfang an unterstützen und nicht erst, wenn sie fertig sind... Dann wäre es auch völlig okay, wenn die exclusivitat dran koppeln.... Aber dann müsste man ja Risiko eingehen....

exklusivität is allgemein grütze. führt nur dazu, dass viele leute sich spiele erst kaufen (können) wenn sie auf ihrer bevorzugten plattform ankommen oder komplett drauf verzichten. auch nich gut für die entwickler. hatte mir damals den epic launcher mal draufgezogen wegen paragon und unreal tournament 4, welche ja anscheinend beide eingestellt wurden. und kaufen würd ich da eh keine spiele.
